POA Journal Managing Editor Ray Shine leaves no stone unturned when validating the content of the paper. Ray has been the editor since June of 1997, and served as the elected representative to the POA Board of Directors from the Traffic Company between 1989 and 1997.

Ray retired from the San Francisco Police Department after serving the City and County for more than 32 years. He patrolled Ingleside and Northern Districts before transferring to the Traffic Company in 1980, where he spent 19 years detailed to Traffic Enforcement in the two-wheel motorcycle unit. In October of 1999, he was promoted and served as the Staff Sergeant to the Captain of Traffic until his retirement in July of 2003.
